A new month full of events has just begun, and the Altopiano del Sole is getting ready to host one of the most popular events for car racing fans: the Malegno-Ossimo-Borno Cronoscalata (hill climb).
An event now in its 51st edition, scheduled for May 27th- 29th and valid as both the fourth round of the Campionato Italiano Velocità Montagna 2022, and as Trofeo Italiano Velocità Montagna Nord.
“A RACE IN A LEGEND”
A track about 9 kilometers long, where hairpin bends and longer stretches alternate on a course perfect for racing cars in an attempt to reach the goal in the shortest possible time.
But the Malegno-Borno is not just about speed: to be able to win you need brains, knowledge of the route and method, characteristics that decree the best performance every year.
The Record of heats on the current 8,800-meter track with chicanes was set last year 2021 by Simone Faggioli (3’37.64), at an average speed of 145.561 km/h.
Over the years, there have been many big names who have tackled the hairpin bends of the Altopiano del Sole, some of whom have become true legends: this is the case, for example, of Mauro Nesti, the Tuscan driver who won ten editions of the race and who still holds the most victories.
The Malegno-Borno is an extremely popular event, watched by locals, competitors, car enthusiasts and all those who want to breathe an atmosphere of speed and socializing.
Cheering on the competitors, there will be no shortage of fans who improvise campsites and encampments every year to secure the best location from which to watch the cars speed by.

The date originally set for the new edition of the Cronoscalata was brought forward two weeks due to Election Day, which forced Automobile Club Brescia organizers to reschedule the event at the end of May.
Enrollment procedures are fully digital and will remain open until May 23rd, 2022 at midnight, accessible from the “ENROLLMENT” page of the dedicated website.
