DISCOVER THE BEST OF OCTOBER ON THE ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE
Autumn has officially begun and the landscapes of the Altopiano del Sole slowly begin to change their colours, tinged with vibrant hues that create a veritable visual spectacle.
In October, nature prepares to show its most fascinating side, and when the sun shines through the peaks and profiles of the mountains, the paths of the plateau capture the imagination of anyone who sets foot there.
There is also no shortage of enchanted family-friendly places to admire the magic of foliage, a phenomenon not to be missed as the season progresses.
Below, you will find the main events scheduled in October on the Altopiano del Sole (we remind you that they are constantly being updated in the CALENDAR section)
OSSIMO SUPERIORE – CROSS-BORDER FESTIVAL LO PANNER – I PANI DELLE ALPI – 2, 9, 11 AND 14 OCTOBER
October sees the 8th edition of the cross-border festival “LO PANNER – I PANI DELLE ALPI”, the event dedicated to rye bread that unites more and more communities every year.
It starts on Monday 2 and 9 October with a bread-making workshop for pupils from Ossimo and Borno primary and middle schools, while on Wednesday 11 there will be a rye noodle-making activity for kindergarten children.
The grand finale will instead be held on Saturday 14 October in Ossimo Superiore: in the morning there will be a number of stalls selling local rye products at the “Farmers’ Market”, while in the afternoon it will be possible to take part in a guided tour of the Ethnographic Museum, watch a demonstration of rye threshing with tales told by local elders, and the theatrical performance “La polenta”.
To follow, from 5 p.m., an aperitif offered by the Pro Loco.
ANGOLO TERME – 14 AND 15 OCTOBER – FAI DAYS IN AUTUMN
On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October, the Valle Camonica FAI group’s autumn FAI days are scheduled in Angolo Terme.

LOZIO – SATURDAY 14 OCTOBER – EXCURSION AND VISIT TO THE FURNACES OF SOMMAPRADA
On Saturday 14 October, on the occasion of the “Lo Panner – I Pani delle Alpi” festival, an excursion is scheduled from Sommaprada to Villa di Lozio along the Sella road, with a visit to the Sommaprada ovens.
This will be followed by a small buffet based on bread and local products, and for the occasion it will be possible to visit the Casa-Museo della Gente di Lozio (House-Museum of the People of Lozio), a building where you can retrace the life of the past through domestic objects and work tools that are still well preserved.
LOZIO – SUNDAY 15 OCTOBER – BICICASTAGNO
The Lozio section of the Gruppo Italiano Amici della Natura (Italian Friends of Nature Group) organises the “Bicicastagno” event on Sunday 15 October, the autumn bicycle ride from Villa di Lozio to Ossimo Superiore and back.
From the Casa Arcobaleno (Rainbow House) in Villa, the bikers will set off on a bike ride to discover the area and return at the same point for a community lunch open to all.
This will be followed by an afternoon of music and roasted chestnuts.
BORNO – SABATO 21 OTTOBRE – HAERETICA
Saturday 21 October in Borno “Haeretica” returns, the fixed appointment that evokes the imagery of fear of medieval nights.
In the afternoon, jesters, acrobats, falcon displays and birds of prey in flight, a dark market and themed venues will enliven the streets of the old town centre, while from 10 p.m. onwards the town will descend into the deepest darkness and demons and Satanasses, plague victims, flagellants and heretics will emerge from the shadows for a truly terrifying spectacle.
Not to be missed in the evening is the show ‘Meraviglie de foco’ by the Drago Nero company.
OSSIMO INFERIORE – SUNDAY 22 OCTOBER – ROASTED CHESTNUTS
The traditional pro-asylum chestnut festival in Ossimo Inferiore is scheduled for Sunday, 22 October.
A nice opportunity to spend a day in company and enjoy the typical fruits of this season.
