Welcome December!

The Altopiano del Sole is ready to welcome the most magical time of the year: the festive season. In December, the streets of the villages are illuminated with twinkling lights and Christmas decorations light up the balconies and facades of the buildings, creating an enchanted atmosphere in every corner.

December is also the most eagerly awaited month for winter sports enthusiasts: trekking in the snow, snowshoeing, skating and, of course, the grand return of skiing!

Starting from 6 December, the “Borno Ski Area” reopens, a place much loved by sportsmen and women of all ages and levels, but also by those in search of entertainment at the foot of the slopes, with lots of après ski for a fun-filled season.

EXPERIENCE THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS ON THE ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE

To fully immerse oneself in the Christmas spirit on the Altopiano del Sole, one can only begin in Piancogno, where from 2 December it will be possible to visit Michele Rodella’s Christmas Village, a unique work of art and local craftsmanship.

Also in the municipality of Piancogno, in the locality of Annunciata, the traditional nativity scene will be set up inside the convent, which is definitely worth a visit in anticipation of the festivities.

There is also no shortage of initiatives dedicated to the little ones: on 12 December, the Altopiano del Sole will welcome the arrival of Santa Lucia, who on board her magical cart will collect letters with children’s wishes. On Friday 15 December the Father Christmas House will be inaugurated in Ossimo, while on 23 December the Father Christmas House in the Piazza in Borno will also open, and can be visited throughout the Christmas period.

In Angolo Terme, Sunday 3 December will see the lighting of the tree in Piazzetta sagrato, followed by a concert in memory of the Gleno disaster, 100 years after the tragic event.

MARKETS AND EVENTS

December on the Altopiano del Sole offers several opportunities to visit Christmas markets, as well as exhibitions of food, wine and handicrafts.

On Friday 15 December, the Christmas markets will instead animate the centre of Piamborno, before stopping off on Saturday 23 December in Piazza Don Stefanini in Cogno.

Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 December will see the return of the vintage markets in the evocative setting of Piazza di Borno, on the eve of the most magical night of the year.

On 31 December, in fact, the New Year’s Eve in the Piazza in Borno is scheduled, a regular event that attracts many young people to the Altopiano del Sole.

The festive season, you know, would not be the same without music, which accompanies Christmas with its sweet melodies.
