San Fermo Trail – Sunday 22 August 2021
22 AUGUST: THE RETURN OF THE SAN FERMO TRAIL
After a one-year sabbatical due to Covid, the San Fermo Trail, the beautiful mountain run by Evolution Team, returns to the Altopiano del Sole on Sunday 22nd August.
For the occasion, Valentina Pezzotti and friends have planned two important novelties for the eve of the race: a Yankee Run (a pursuit competition through the streets of the town centre proposed in collaboration with Mario Poletti’s Fly-Up) and an uphill and downhill race from Pizzo Camino to set a reference time (in this case, only one athlete will compete, specially invited by the organising committee).
But let’s go in order, announcing the first date to be marked in red on the calendar: Saturday 15, in fact, registration will open and it will be ‘bib hunting’ since, for logistical reasons related to the moment we are living, the organising committee has set a maximum of 300 competitors. The event, as always, will be supported by Faletti Store and will have Scott & Tornado technical partners.
ROUTE YOU LIKE, YOU DON’T CHANGE
The Borno race is a real mountain running race, ideal for trail running neophytes, but also for real racers who want to test their legs and condition on a varied and never banal route. To be tackled are 18 kilometres with 1,261 metres of positive altitude difference. From the picturesque square of Borno (883 metres above sea level), the route climbs to the San Fermo refuge (1868 metres above sea level). From here starts a technical and panoramic traverse (Sentiero Alto) of about 4 km that will take the athletes to the 1921 m of Monte Arano. From the GPM begins the descent that leads to the Laeng refuge (1769 metres above sea level) in the Varicla basin and then touches the picturesque Lake Lova before plunging into the picturesque finish line of Borno.
