CLIMBING

For climbing lovers, the Altopiano del Sole is the ideal place to provide you with excitement. In fact, Borno hosts some of the most beautiful climbing rockfaces and crags in the entire Alpine area and in the Orobie Alps.

Rock gyms for boulder climbing are also available at Borno, Malegno and Piancogno gyms. This type of activity involves the use of mattresses placed below, and is therefore ideal for teaching children about climbing, practicable in all seasons and in all weather conditions.

THE MOST FAMOUS NATURAL CLIMBING GYMS OF THE ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE ARE:

Località Belem (8 km from Borno): from Borno go up to Croce di Salven and descend to locality Paline, cross a small bridge, then about 800 meters after the bridge, park in a small open space on the left side of the road. On the opposite side, looking a few meters above the road, you notice this splendid rock face. This is a demanding climb, beautiful and diversified, but with difficult passages and therefore reserved for expert climbers.

Località Predulì (near the Convento dell’Annunciata): from Borno go down to Ossimo Inferiore, and follow the signs for the Convento dell’Annunciata, where you can park. Go along Via Mandolini for around 600 metres. After a few houses, turn right onto a path with Italian Alpine Club signs and in about 35 minutes on foot you will arrive at the foot of this crag. The climbing routes and picnic stops were created by the Pian di Borno Yak Group. You can find climbing routes with different difficulties.
