VILLAS, PALACES AND HISTORIC HOUSES
Strolling through the alleyways of the municipalities of the Altopiano del Sole and letting your gaze wander, it is impossible not to marvel at the beauty to be found. Villas, palaces and historic residences will be the setting for your walks of discovery.
The historical centre of Borno still preserves intact buildings of ancient origin and valuable architectural details, which bear witness to an ancient art that had reached very high levels in Valle Camonica. These include the beautiful Palazzo Franzoni, which dominates the town square Giovanni Paolo II, with the date 1690 engraved on a pillar of the portico and the beautiful 17th-century portal with the coat of arms of the noble house of the Federici. In the same square, Palazzo Camozzi bears a coat of arms with a rampant chamois in the keystone of the 17th-century portal.
In the historic centre of Angolo Terme, on the other hand, the FAI has recognised as a ‘place of the heart’ the Palazzo Laini, a historic residence with a quadrangular plan dating back to 1500 (the newer portion was built in 1768). Inside, marble fireplaces, decorated ceilings and valuable paintings are still visible; the floor is the original old terracotta one. In the centre of Piancogno, on the other hand, stand the magnificent Villa Gheza and Villa Glazel-Passerini.
