101. Croce di Salven m.1109 – Dossolungo – Val di Cala – Pendrizza – Malga Zumella m.1565
Route characteristics
A little-known itinerary through a beautiful forest diagonally to the right. Rather steep intermediate section. Views of the Presolana and the Corna di San Fermo.
Description
Description Trail 101 begins in Croce di Salven, 5 km from Borno. Park on the right side of the road, where an arrow, near a fountain, indicates the beginning of the itinerary. Follow the tarmac road that climbs on a moderate slope, skirting some farmhouses.
At the first crossroads (signpost) go straight on for about 100 metres, then turn right onto an initially steep lane, which soon flattens out and crosses the wood halfway up the hill until you reach a hillock. Here, paying attention to the signs, leave the road, which begins to descend, and turn left to go up a long stretch of wood called Dossolungo on a steep slope. The path enters a wide mule track that turns right and crosses the moraine basin of the Val di Cala on a slight slope, dominated by the rocky spurs of the “Riasa”.
The route enters the woods again with a fairly steep initial stretch, then continues slightly uphill or flat until it reaches a small alpine pasture called Pendrizza. Ignoring the steep mule track that descends to Sarna, continue straight on, going up a grassy area flanked by woods. Once again on the flat, go past a drinking trough and reach Malga Zumella m. 1565 (1:30 hrs). Here you cross trail 100 (see arrows), which in 45 minutes goes up to the San Fermo refuge or down to Borno in 1:15 hours.
