Route characteristics
High-altitude itinerary through wild environments that loops the mountain group formed by the Corna di San Fermo, Pale di San Fermo and Pizzo Camino. Landscapes that change continuously.
Description
From the San Fermo refuge, which can be reached from Borno with trail 82 in 2:30 hours, walk along the wide ridge that connects the refuge to the mountain. At a pool (see arrows) turn left, go up the pasture and continue on moraines towards Passo del Costone (0:30 hr). Cross numerous streams along the hillside among thick alder vegetation, until you go around a small grassy hillock in a larch forest.
Continue on a slight slope towards a stream that you leave on the left (pay attention to the signs), to enter among the boulders and come out on the path that goes up to Passo di Corna Busa m. 1940 (1:30 hrs). Enter an alder wood, cross the scree on the western slope of Pizzo Camino and climb up to a pass that precedes the steep couloir that climbs up to Passo di Varicla m. 2097 (2:45 hrs). Descend from the pass with caution and come out on the easy path that leads to the Laeng refuge m.1760 (3:30 hrs).
This excursion can be done in the opposite direction to the one described and allows you to overcome most of the difference in height immediately.
