Le Fudine Museum
per person
The Civic Ethnographic Museum of Iron “Le Fudine” was founded in 1998 by the municipal administration of Malegno, in order to offer a historical/anthropological look at one of the most typical and traditional crafts of Valle Camonica: ironwork.
The forges in Via S. Antonio are among the oldest in Europe and represent a significant artefact of industrial archaeology. The museum itinerary is entitled ‘Iron: a metal between heaven and earth’. It evokes the image of the blacksmith, an expert in the arts of metal, a careful juggler in the combination of the elements of water, air and fire.
Anyone entering the Fudine has the immediate feeling of being in a place that is not only important from a historical/cultural point of view, but also ethnographic and social. Generations of workers have in fact spent their lives between these thick walls and this solid structure, which today becomes a modern setting for new ways of approaching art and new forms of expression.
